Sara writes:  This song erupted fully formed on a deserted beach on Santa Catalina Island.  We had spent the day kayaking to a beautiful beach to go snorkeling.  While I enjoy snorkeling, I’m not that experienced and I don’t feel fully in my element in the ocean when I’m not near shore.  My husband was far off in the water and I started to feel panicky and alone.  I wanted to calm the heck down before journeying back to the beach and decided to lay still in the water and call up medicine songs as I slowly snorkel-breathed.  What a relief!  I could hear my song family’s voices and sunk deep into the music.  My breathing slowed down, my heart beat slowed down and I slowly swam back to shore.
This anthem is a love song to community singing and the songs and people who are part of it.  Truely a growing web of love and care!
This song is easy to lead with a call and echo style.  I added some improvised harmonies for fun, but those are completely optional and/or you can make up some of your own.  Feel free to share this song far and wide.  If you’re enjoying leading it, let me know.  I love to know where songs travel!

Lyrics:
When I need you,
I can call you,
through your voice,
your spirit rings.
And your songs they
wrap around me,
I’m not alone
when I hear you sing.
Oh it’s amazing,
what we’re creating.
A growing web of love and care.
It’s deep within you,
it’s deep within me,
Open your heart,
you’ll find it there.

Open your heart,
you’ll find it there.
