a protest/march/public-outreach focused branch of the Living Room Choir community + friends,
led by Sara Stutz (she/her)

(non LRC-members are also welcome to join!)

There’s so much going on in the world right now; sometimes we get the urge to take it outside somewhere and sing about it.

The Invitation: Do you have any interest in (possibly somewhat spontaneous) gatherings to share our songs with the public? These will be quick teaches, call and echo, etc – no sheet music. Perhaps on a street corner on Solano Avenue, North Berkeley Bart, El Cerrito Plaza, or further afield at a protest or march.
If you’re interested in Taking It Outside, please email Sara ATTN: TIO at: theLivingRoomChoir@gmail.com

How We Roll: We’re a circle of singers and friends who believe in the power of voices raised together. We use Signal as a space for sharing songs, planning where we’ll gather, and spreading the joy of peaceful action.

Some guidelines around the hoped for focus on the Signal thread: let’s keep our vibe peaceful, positive, and creative. Let us be mindful of fear or anxiety-inducing information. We lift spirits, not stress levels.

If you’re looking to share or find broader resources or direct actions, there are other resources for that. In the TIO Signal chat, we stay tuned to music, connection, and courage — and sing about what needs singing about.

Sara writes: Bringing smaller or larger groups of singers to actions has been an incredibly inspiring and encouraging experience.  When you see the faces of the singers in TIO and of others nearby realizing they can join in with powerful songs during an action, you see and feel an elevation in mood, and a sense of increased unity, hope and empowerment.  It’s a great way to take peaceful action during a time when it’s hard to know what the next right action might be.
