Welcome!

In the dark times
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will be singing
About the dark times.

Bertolt Brecht, written while the playwright was in exile in Denmark in the late 1930s after having fled Nazi Germany.

Living Room Choir is a culture of song, playfulness, and meaningful connection with self and others. We are part of the international Ubuntu Choirs Network, and an explicitly antiracist, queer-friendly, trans-affirming space. People of all backgrounds and identities are welcome. There are no age limits, no audition process, no minimum attendance required, and no one turned away for lack of funds.

The next public event after Spring Session begins will be the
Community Sing on Saturday May 10th, followed by Summer Saturday Drop-Ins. Save the dates and join us then!

Some Basics:

  • Living Room Choir meets Saturdays, 4-5:30 in the community rooms and/or courtyard of Grace Lutheran Church at 15 Santa Fe, El Cerrito, CA. Grace Notes, the annex group, meets 3-3:45 in the same space.
  • There are no age limits, no audition process, no minimum attendance required, and no one turned away for lack of funds.
  • By registering, you will be on a list to receive a weekly email with all details, reminders, and teaching tracks.
  • Every week there is a Kids’ Corner offered with an alternate (usually craft) activity as well as quiet free-play. There is no maximum age limit, and kids are also welcome in the singing circle space. The Kids Corner space is set up with littles in mind, but even grown ups may enjoy it. Oftentimes people float between the Kids Corner and the singing circle.
