Laurie writes:
This song came through when I felt gaslit by someone I had hired to do a job for me. Codependent conditioning can be so deep that it can be hard to believe in yourself.

On the self love journey I found that reclaiming and loving my inner child is the most awakening step I made. Children love celebrations, so I hope you can find little things in your day to congratulate and honor about yourself.

A note from Sara:
Laurie did not teach specific harmonies for this song.  I’m sharing some harmony options for you, but this song is meant to be loose and interactive.

Lyrics:
You don’t have to do to be worthy
You don’t have to should to be good
You don’t have to smile to vibe higher
You don’t have to give to deserve your own love

Celebrate, celebrate being
Celebrate, I celebrate me
Celebrate, celebrate being
Celebrate, I celebrate me

Laurie Olsen is a Community Choir Leadership Training (CCLT) alumni and lives in Marin County. Sara learned this song at a songleader campout gathering with Laurie and several other local songleaders.  The song started quietly and quickly exploded into a very rowdy and fun free-form jam.  Enjoy this very satisfying banger of a song!
When Laurie taught this song, she sang the Celebrate section through once (versus twice). Our group explored singing the section through in a variety of ways and Sara asked for permission to sing the section through twice for teaching and recording. You may also have variations you’d like to explore with this very satisfying song!
