Sara says: As time passes in the Community Singing universe, I am in awe of the weaving and re-weaving that is happening for myself and others during song gatherings and song circles. The sharing of songs and the medicine they bring, spending time together in nature, singing in a circle, meeting new people and reconnecting with friends we met at other gatherings…it is all so rich and juicy, the village that I didn’t know I was missing!
Hearts and Voices was inspired after one such song gathering in the woods, sharing and weaving songs with other song leaders in Fall 2024. When thinking about weaving, my mind traveled to the medieval chant O Virgo Splendens which I had the pleasure of learning while singing with WAVE (Women’s Antique Vocal Ensemble) in Berkeley, CA. The weaving notes of this round were inspired from this early music form. Cross-pollination and musical weaving continues!
