Grace Notes meets for extra time each week to work on additional material and to more deeply support the harmonies in the Living Room.
grace note /ˈɡrās ˌnōt/ : an extra note added as an embellishment and and support to the harmony or melody.
Grace Notes is a group of Living Room Choir members who enjoy working on songs that are a little more complex and require a bit more time and practice. Grace Notes began in Spring 2024, and existed before that as small groups that would pop up organically alongside Living Room Choir in previous years. This is a self-selected group of folks who are helping shape it as we go.
Grace Notes works at a fast pace, and meets from 3:00 – 3:45 each week before the LRC rehearsal begins. There is an additional registration fee, but as always, no one is turned away for lack of funds.
This is a non-audition group, AND the path to entry is a 10-15 minute conversation with Sara or Deborah in advance of your registration . If you are interested in joining Grace Notes or have questions, contact TheLivingRoomChoir@Gmail.com with “ATTN Sara and Deborah” in the subject line.
At-A-Glance, Grace Notes is:
- Non-audition, but some musical proficiency or musical comfort level is necessary
- Commitment to the schedule, including punctuality
- A commitment and willingness to catch yourself up outside of rehearsal if you feel behind or have to miss some weeks (your fellow Gracies will likely be happy to help)
- Full access to Teaching Tracks
- Commitment to participate in the Community Sing, potluck, and other LRC community events
- You’ll receive weekly emails with updates
- You may receive musical homework at times
- You’ll get to work on more complex music, at a faster pace
- We’ll expect to be able to count on you in LRC as strong singers who can “anchor” parts if needed
