The Albany COVIDchella is a socially distant outdoor music festival played by local musicians from Albany (or nearby Berkeley) porches and driveways. It is free to attend and encourages tipping to support philanthropic causes chosen for each event (this event will contribute the tips to pro democracy organizations).
These days, COVIDchella is a pretty low-key event, with neighbors wandering from one music group to another and listening for a bit, or pulling up a chair and staying for the set. It’s a nice way to give back to the neighborhood and spread the word about Living Room Choir.
COVIDchella began in July, 2020 during lockdown and continues to this day as a community music festival for local musicians. The name, “COVIDchella” reminds us of its historic origins, that we can make lemonade out of lemons, and that music will always be a way for our community to connect and spread good in the world.
