This arrangement was caught and contained by Kaitie Ty Warren, from an organic moment at Los Angeles Community SongFest in 2019 where Sara Thomsen taught the song and the timing of it got skewed from how she intended. The result was a swingier and more playful version of the song, a delight to sing! Heather Houston and Kaitie Ty Warren were both facilitators at that event and remember very similar versions of it from that night. The version represented on this page is Kaitie Ty’s intentional arrangement/clarification of the swingy version, after talking with Sara Thomsen who has given her blessing to modify and enjoy the song this way, as well as listening to Sara’s original recording and making some decisions about lyrics and intervals, to optimize the song’s singability.
The original, below, recorded by Sara Thomsen. This is not published so please be respectful and refrain from sharing it elsewhere.
Below, a clip from Kaitie teaching it at the Sisters in Harmony retreat, summer 2022. Recording of this version coming soon!
Part 1:
You are so beautiful
You are so beautiful, beautiful
Part 2:
I…just might have to eat you up
Part 3:
You are my cherry tomato
You are my little potato
You are my leafy greens
You are my skinny little string bean
The story: Sara says she wrote this song in (and for) her garden, then later shared it with her wife who expressed what a darling love song it is. It is…but it is in fact a love song to vegetables.
